Join us in an exploration of self-compassion. During the eight-week programme, we will look at how we currently practice self-compassion and to begin thinking of ways we could become more self-compassionate.
Self-compassion is defined as an emotional skill that helps us to be kind and understanding to ourselves in times of suffering, failure, or when we feel inadequate. Self-compassion helps us increase resiliency; being kind and caring toward ourselves rather than being critical and judgmental, allowing us feel connected to others when we suffer, rather than feeling isolated and alone.
We will explore:
•What self-compassion is and isn’t
•How to enhance mindfulness with self-compassion
•Ways to motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism
•Techniques for handling difficult emotions with greater ease
Our next round of book club is due to start on Tuesday 6th July from 12-1pm and will run fortnightly for five sessions at least.
Each member should have a good level of English - at least level 1. They do not have to be particularly confident at reading however, we take it at a nice slow pace of approximately 2 chapters a week and the whole idea of book club is to increase confidence, social interaction, and wellbeing - it is not a test on the book.
We are hoping to do it in person come July but the option for zoom is there for now in case we cannot
The book club is particularly aimed at members who are socially isolated and want to improve their confidence and networking, discussion skills and wellbeing. It presents Opportunities for meeting new people, and to discuss topics of mutual interest.
The next book up will be 'The Salt path' by Raynor Winn "an honest and life-affirming true story of coming to terms with grief and the healing power of the natural world. Ultimately, it is a portrayal of home, and how it can be lost, rebuilt, and rediscovered in the most unexpected ways" (Waterstones review)
Marc will be running a series of six 1 hour sessions in June/July looking at the topic of Formula Negative Number and Money;
Improve your language skills with Marc during this six week course
