You will be taught how to tile, starting from the basics and building your way up to tiling bathrooms, using a real life model shower unit. Sessions can be tailored towards having tiling as a hobby, a life skill or an employment route.
No need for prior experience. There are options to work towards many certificates and qualifications.
You will learn wood skills, starting from the very basics and building your way up to create items of your choice such as chairs, boxes, shelves, book cases, frames etc.
No prior knowledge is needed. There are many certificates and accredited qualifications you can work towards.
Finding Your Future Home is a practical QEL to increase your confidence and build on your knowledge and skills around finding a suitable property. Over 4 weeks, you will be able to make an informed decision about social housing and private sector routes, gain an understanding of legislation around housing, and overcoming common barriers. It also has a practical element, where you can use the computers to bid on properties and contact landlords with the support of a tutor.
Book in to see a GP within the Crisis Skylight Newcastle centre. Appointments are 30 minutes long (instead of the normal 10 minutes) this gives you more time to talk about any of your issues. We also have support from Health Now advocates to get the support you need.

No need for any prior cooking experience. There are options to work towards certificates and qualifications including: QEL (6 hours) Confidence in the Kitchen, Entry Level 3 (20 hours) Basic Cooking, Level 1 (30 hours) Basic Food Preparation and Cooking.
This course looks at what you need to do on the first day, the first week, the first month and beyond once getting the keys to your new property. It covers practical support around finding affordable furniture, reading gas and electricity meters, managing bills and property, and helps you make an action plan to settle into your new community which is personal to you.

Improve your wellbeing and develop your creativity; get involved with a variety of unique and inspiring activities and projects. Sessions will be delivered in our Art Studio, with some projects taking place at other exciting venues.
Money Matters - A 6 hour course held over 3 x 2 hour small group sessions. This course covers the basics of budgeting such as money skills, looking at your spending habits, essential and non-essential spending, consequences of not paying bills and developing your own budget. After this course you can go onto receive 1-2-1 budgeting support through the "Personal" Budgeting sessions.
Personal Budgeting - A short course delivered on a 1-2-1 basis. The content is delivered at a pace to suit you. This course looks specifically at your personal budget, and how to set and achieve budgeting goals for the future. Ideally you could attend this course after attending the "Money Matters" group sessions, however if you prefer 1-2-1 support you can choose this option.
Care for Your Mind group sessions: we recommend attending 1-2-1 Care for Your Mind sessions before moving onto group sessions so that you can develop the basic techniques first.
Be Your Best Self (BYBS) is a short QEL course which will help you think about simple and effective ways that increase your self-esteem, confidence and assertiveness, so that you can take steps towards feeling and being your best self!

We recommend attending Mindfulness 1-2-1 before moving onto Mindfulness group sessions.

Visits will vary, we plan to visit local businesses to find out about volunteering opportunities, local points of interest such as museums, libraries, art galleries, history sites and more.
