In cheering on our runners and supporting our clients.
You are part of ending homelessness, one journey at a time.
We are the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. Each year we directly support thousands of people to rebuild their lives and find safe and stable accommodation. With our independence, knowledge, and integrity, we campaign for the changes to end homelessness for good.

If you are over 18 and have the right to volunteer in the UK, then we would love for you to volunteer with us.
After you submit your application, we’ll send you an acknowledgement email letting you know that we’ve received it. Please check your email junk folder if you don’t get a confirmation email.
We will try to get back to you as quickly as possible. Due to annual leave or particularly busy periods in our service it may take a couple of weeks to receive a response. If you have been waiting a particularly long time then please contact Crisis Volunteering.
We want to make every volunteer feel supported and provide volunteers with opportunities to develop in their roles, such as additional training and the opportunity to sit on advisory boards.
If there are any areas where you particularly want to develop your skills and experience, then please let us know and we will try to support you.
Volunteering can help to boost your CV and if you’re with us for 3 months then we can supply a professional reference.
We want our work to be shaped by the voices of those with lived experience so that we can work in a knowledgeable way and empower the people that we work with to create a sustainable and positive impact.
We offer members and people with lived experience of homelessness opportunities to be involved across the whole organisation, such as our Experts by Experience Panel. For more details, please contact the Member Involvement team.
If you can’t find any roles that meet your skillset or interests but still want to get involved then please contact Crisis Volunteering and let us know about your skills and experience, as well as the kind of role that you are looking for.
When you find a role that suits you then please click on the ‘apply now’ button on the role description. We’ll then ask you to fill out a short application form. We may ask you to attend an in person or online interview or an informal induction.
All volunteers will need to complete our core training including modules on topics such as safeguarding, equality and diversity, professional boundaries, and data protection, as well as role specific training for some positions. You may also need a DBS check for some roles.
Any volunteering with Crisis will be carried out in a safe environment. Our volunteers and staff have training, regular 1-1s and adhere to Crisis policies to keep everyone safe in the workplace.
You can discuss any additional needs that you have with your volunteer coordinator and they will support you to feel safe.
Yes, you can volunteer and claim benefits, as well as receiving out of pocket expenses. Check the Government guidance here and speak to your Jobcentre Plus to let them know that you’re volunteering.

Crisis is committed to making the organisation as accessible and inclusive as possible and we want to support individuals with a physical or mental health condition, mobility impairment or who identify as neurodiverse to volunteer with us.
We will try to adapt all roles to make them accessible and where this isn’t possible, we will try to support in finding a role that works for you. If you think that your disability may affect role that you are applying for then you can either let us know on your application form or let your volunteer coordinator know during the interview or induction.
