Crisis asked us to help create this appeal at a crucial time - in the middle of a cost of living crisis, with thousands of people at risk of being pushed into homelessness. We've both experienced homelessness and we want to tell you what it's like. But we also want to tell you how amazing Crisis supporters like you helped us slowly piece ourselves back together and feel whole again. And we want to tell you what a difference your support could make to people over the difficult months ahead.
Surging energy prices, taxes and inflation are adding to the existing pressures faced by people on the lowest incomes. It leaves them straining under the weight of price increases they can’t afford. We know something about how traumatised people will feel. But, thanks to you, Crisis are supporting people really struggling in this crisis. And they’ll continue to put pressure on Governments for the housing and support that we know will end homelessness for good.
Could you help Crisis be there for someone at the sharp end of the cost of living crisis? Any gift you can give, big or small, will help them leave homelessness behind for good.
“When you don’t have a home, people look down on you. So, when I came to Crisis, it was empowering to be treated like an equal.” Paul, Crisis member
“Crisis have definitely opened my eyes to new possibilities, and also opened my eyes to what still needs to be done. Everybody can make a difference.” Cecelia, Crisis member
Paul painted this image for this appeal. It reflects the important parts both art and books have played in his journey out of homelessness.
“I used to read voraciously, five novels a week. But when I was homeless, my brain was racing so fast, I couldn’t take words in. Now I have this stability, I can tackle life again, which includes being able to enjoy reading. Thank you for helping people like us piece ourselves back together and rebuild our lives.”
